The Sermon on the Mount

Sermon Series: The Sermon on the Mount
Matthew 5-7
January – Spring 2013

Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.” So begins Matthew’s account of the Sermon on the Mount, the longest piece of teaching from Jesus in the New Testament. Jesus explains the reality of discipleship lived in the presence and power of the kingdom of God, but within the everyday world. Jesus’ poignant and shocking teaching, turned upside down the theology of the day. This same teaching and is as shocking and profoundly relevant to us today. In this series, we will look with fresh eyes at the heart of Jesus’ most extensive teaching, and may His kingdom capture our hearts.
