Job Posting: Child and Youth Minister

St. George’s Anglican Church (ANiC) is a vibrant, worshiping, Anglican church in Burlington, ON,  Canada.  We are seeking an individual who is called to join us in this vision and has a passion and ability to carry out the vision through leading Children and Youth Ministries at the church.

THE ROLE:

This full time opportunity is to prayerfully lead, support, and provide coordination for an established Children’s Ministry (0 – 12 years of age) and lead and cultivate a developing youth ministry (12 – 18 years of age) in the church and in the Alton Village and Burlington community.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

A solid theological foundation with formal theological training is strongly preferred. Passion for teaching biblical foundations to young people
Leadership traits of courage, honesty, wisdom, passion, sincerity and humility Motivated self-starter with a community outreach focus
Excellent Communication Skills (written and verbal) Minimum 2 years of experience working with young people


LEADERSHIP & PLANNING

  • In conjunction with the Ministry Team, seek God for overall vision of the Child & Youth Ministry
  • Initiate and facilitate the growth of the vision through the development of plans and activities
  • Coordinate, attract, train, and provide leadership to volunteers who will help execute the vision and plans
  • Provide oversight and leadership for the Sunday School activities and curriculum (K – Grade 6)
  • Ensure and promote the Health and Safety of children and youth in our care.

DISCIPLESHIP & MENTORSHIP

  • Build the Child & Youth Ministry to support the areas of discipleship, worship, fellowship and group building.
  • Encourage youth in developing their relationship with God and provide mentorship
  • Challenge youth to respond to God’s call to serve in their communities
  • Be a resource to parents and provide discipleship to children, youth and parents.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH & SUPPORT

  • Build the Child & Youth ministry to support the areas of community outreach and mission.
  • Develop opportunities to effectively reach youth in the community (ie. develop activities at local schools etc).
  • Provide opportunities for children and youth in the church to reach out to the local community and support missions outside the local community.
  • Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to child and youth ministries.
