Kid's Ministry Coordinator

The Role

-

This part time opportunity is to prayerfully lead, support, and provide coordination for an established Nursery and Kids Ministry (0 – 11 years of age) in the church. Secondarily, the role includes outreach and special events for Alton Village, and the broader Burlington community. The person in this role works directly under the Family Ministries Director.

Skills and Abilities

-

  • A solid theological foundation 
  • Passion for teaching biblical foundations to children
  • Leadership traits of courage, honesty, wisdom, passion, sincerity and humility
  • Motivated self-starter with a community outreach focus
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children

Role Breakdown

-

The nature of the role is highly collaborative. You will be regularly working alongside the Family Ministry Pastor, and the larger Kids Min volunteer team. This is a team focused ministry. Although responsible for the following main areas, the Kids Ministry Coordinator is not responsible for doing all of the work themselves but ensuring it happens:


Sunday Children’s Church (60%) 

  • Give overall leadership to the children's ministry which includes volunteer teams, children, and parents.
  • Responsible for all programming and volunteer scheduling for Sunday morning Children’s Church (Nursery – Grade 5).
  • Responsible for all curriculum and lesson planning.
  • Weekly communication with children’s ministry volunteers.

Family and Special Events (20%)

  • Work with Family Ministry Pastor to develop occasional, special Family Events. 
  • Incorporate Children’s Ministry in special events like Christmas and Easter services as well as other special church wide ministry. 
  • Support, and promote our summer camp (Sports Camp) to families. Follow up with participating families to encourage connection and further ministry.

Discipleship and Admin (15%) 

  • Maintain and customize curriculum plans for the ministry year
  • Maintain a year-long volunteer schedule. 
  • Be a resource to parents and provide discipleship to children, and parents.
  • Coordinate, attract, train, and provide leadership to volunteers who will help execute the vision and plans
  • Maintain and develop children’s ministry policies and procedures ensuring current Plan to Protect practices are being observed. 
  • Prepare and administer Children’s ministry budgets as approved by the board.

Staff Team Participation (5%)

  • Weekly updates with Family Ministries Pastor

Compensation

-

  • Salary and Compensation details will be confirmed with candidates attending an interview. 
  • Compensation is based on a 10 hour week
