Since Jesus came, nothing is secret. Christ made explicit everything that was already implicit about God. We don’t have to hope that God is merciful – we look to the cross and see it plain and clear.
Jesus is the one who calls people to himself. If you desire to be Christ’s own, then that is the evidence that you are called by Him. Salvation belongs to the Lord God – it is His work.
Trust the Lord enough to come to Him honestly, exposing your sin with all its shame. Trust that He is the God who restores the humble.
You can observe all of the rules and external things, but if you don’t know Christ you have nothing, for He is Lord over all things.
In the healing of the paralytic, we are confronted with the truth that Jesus has the power to forgive sin. If you are overwhelmed by your sin, go to Jesus. He saves everyone who comes to him.
In the account of the cleansing of the leper, we behold our salvation. Jesus takes our place, bearing our uncleanness and transferring His purity to us. He enters the desolate place so we would never be God-forsaken.
To follow the Lord Jesus Christ will come with a cost. It may feel like it is costing you everything, but through it you will gain all of eternity.
God comes to us in Jesus. He comes in amnesty. He comes not to kill, but to be killed; not to condemn, but to save us from the wrath we deserve. This is the good news of Jesus that we proclaim.
The Christian embraces both the old and the new, embracing the whole of Scripture. We rightly inherit and understand the Old Testament through the light of the New.
