Rhonda Update

Dear St. George’s Family,

I am writing from Rhonda’s hospital bed at the Hamilton General Hospital.  Rhonda is resting and Matthew is curled up beside his mom.

As you know, Rhonda was admitted to the hospital yesterday with a debilitating migraine headache that lasted about a week.  She had been to the doctor’s office once and to the hospital the day before, but to no avail.

McMaster Hospital performed a CT Scan and transferred her to the General for an MRI.  The MRI has shown a large tumor on the right side of Rhonda’s head.  The doctors are concerned because the tumor is large and located deep inside her brain, pressing against the median line.

Rhonda is scheduled for a biopsy on Friday.  I’m not sure how the biopsy will be conducted, whether by needle or by surgery but I’ll keep you all posted.  The biopsy is intended to establish if the tumor is malignant or benign.  It will also establish whether it is primary or secondary.

The prayers of the saints have been more special to us than you could ever know.  Your kind emails, Facebook messages and texts are a great source of encouragement to Rhonda, Matthew and me.  I read each out loud in our room.

My heart is hurting, but I am learning to trust Jesus more and more.  Rhonda and I slept together last night, cramped into the small hospital bed.  More accurately, Rhonda slept while I wept and prayed.  I awoke this morning more certain than ever that Jesus is still on the throne, ruling and reigning over every detail in Rhonda’s life and in her body.

Jesus is so very precious to me.  I am leaning on His promises.  You are all precious to me too.

With great love and gratitude,
RD

But of the Son he says, ‘Your throne O God is forever and ever, the scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.  You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; Therefore God, even your God has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions – Hebrews 1:8-9

  1. Heavenly Father, I ask for your mercy and grace for Rhonda and the Glenn family. I pray that you would bring glory to your name by sparing them any more pain and healing Rhonda to complete health.
I ask all this in the name of Jesus, your son and our Lord.

  2. “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the Church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:14-16

Most merciful Father, we most humbly beseech Thee to heal Thy servant, Rhonda. Restore her body to perfect health, that she might continue to serve Thee and bring glory to Thy holy name. And for Thy servants, Ray David and Matthew, comfort and succour them in this time of distress. Remind them of Thy presence in their midst, that they might feel a renewed sense of Thy love and protection over their family.
In the name of Thy Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

  3. Rhonda, Ray David and Matthew,
My love and prayers to all of you at this difficult time!!! Grab hold of the healing power, that I am sending your way!!! I read a few Facebook statuses of a few mutual friends, and until Ron revealed what was going on, I have to admit that I was a tad confused, but also understand completely!!! Love to all of you!!!

  4. We’re all praying for you here at Crossroads. We also had prayer today for Rhonda on 100 Huntley Street, and in our staff chapel service Wednesday. We are believing God with you for a miracle!

P.S. Here’s an email that came in today from a viewer…

I do not always see your programme because of work requirements. I heard this morning of Rhonda Glenn’s pending surgery and found myself overcome with the need to express my thoughts of comfort for her family and friends. She will be in my prayers.
