Rhonda Update April 30

April 30th, 2010

Dear St. George’s Family,

We are so very grateful for godly, loving bishops.  Our Archbishop, Bob Duncan, called us and prayed with us over the phone.  Late last night, Bishop Charlie came by the hospital for a tender time of prayer and encouragement.

He graciously interrupted his visit to The Church of the Good Samaritan and St. Stephen’s, both in Newfoundland, to be with my family at this time.  My brothers Fr. Darrell Critch and Fr. Howard Hynes released him from their visit and prayerfully sent him back home.

Charlie arrived in the hospital room last night with this passage of scripture.  Rhonda and I both found it most appropriate.

For we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many. – St. Paul, 2 Corinthians 1:8-11

Thank God for men who love the Lord and love the pastors under their care.  We have been inundated with emails, Facebooks, flowers, phone calls and text messages from around the world (including Jerusalem and Patmos), across the continent, and throughout Canada.

Soli Deo Gloria.

Please keep praying.
O God, deliver us from ‘such a deadly peril’.

With great love and abiding peace,
RD

Rhonda is scheduled for biopsy at 1pm today.

It involves a ‘burr-hole’ in the top of her skull and the delicate insertion of a needle into the tumor near the middle of her brain. Jesus, please guide the surgeon’s hands. Prevent any bleeding or complications. Dear friends, your prayers are dearer to us than you may ever know. Please pray today.

  1. Dear Ray David, Rhonda, and Matthew,

Please know that Yvonne and I as well as the Prayer Team here at St. Aidan’s, Windsor are holding you up in prayer and will continue to do so.

The Lord put Psalm 27:1&5 on my heart for you just now,

“1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?”
“5 For in the day of trouble
    he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
and set me high upon a rock.”

    The Lord bless you.

    Your brother in Christ,
    Tom Carman

  2. Dear Ray David, Rhonda and Matthew:

I am writing this from the west coast of Canada this morning as a member of St Matthew’s parish in Abbotford because the Holy Spirit has moved my heart to pray and speak encouragement to you in this hour. The Lord’s Hand is upon you and upon the doctors and other medical personnel you have been, and will be, in contact with. His mercy and grace will come as a powerful tide of Living Waters from His very Throne of Grace. Hold fast in the tempest and be strong for He hears you and knows the deepest desires of your heart. The night is full of terror but His is the morning where you and your beloved are called to dwell. Wait on the Lord as His delight is in you.

    God’s peace,
    Doug Mason
