This is our final Sunday in the life of Abraham.
Only 3 verses (12:1-3) were needed for God to call Abraham. But notice how much room is given to finding the burial place for Sarah, Abraham’s wife, a full 20 verses (23:1-20). I find this part tender, indeed.
Next the narrative moves to finding a wife for Isaac, the child of the covenant, and concludes with the death of Abraham.
