As you know, we are going through the process of formalizing our membership at St. George’s. For the first time in 160 years we will have a membership process, other than the old parish-Christendom model of geographic proximity.

Indeed, very helpful. Our reluctance to “join” in the 21st century is fueled by our fear of the abuse of authority and disillusionment with any form of commitment caused by broken promises and fractured covenant. There is a whole generation that desperately needs healing from the pain of family brokenness.
