5 Hymns for the Ages

You may be a lifelong hymn-singer or new to singing the old hymns, but either way, it is amazing to look at the music inspired by the Holy Spirit over the ages. We can learn so much from what has gone before us. I find it humbling to be able to sing music that has been sung by the saints, in some instances, for close to a thousand years.

Here are 5 great old hymns, beautifully sung by Audrey Assad, that may just show you something new about Christ.

“It is Well with my Soul” – Horatio Spafford

“My sin, O, the bliss of this glorious thought; my sin, not in part, but the whole, is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more; praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!”

“Come Thou Fount” – Robert Robinson

“Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger, interposed his precious blood.”

“I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say” – Horatius Bonar

“I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my star, my sun;
and in that light of life I’ll walk till traveling days are done.”

“Abide With Me” – Henry Lyte

“Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day; earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away. Change and decay in all around I see. O Lord who changes not, abide with me.”

“Holy, Holy, Holy” – Reginald Heber

“Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee; holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity!”
