Rhonda Update May 4

May 4th, 2010

Dear St. George’s Family,

We’re back. This hospital is starting to feel like a second home. The nurses are delightful and warm. They love our Rhonda, which speaks well of their judgment. Rhonda is resting and I’m finishing off a long day by writing to you, our dearly loved friends.

Rhonda spent 2 hours today at the beauty salon. Rachel carefully worked around the incision in Rhonda’s head, giving her a new style that covers everything quite well. The time in the salon was well spent. Rhonda looks great and feels alive again. Thank Jesus for His delicate graces to my wife.

We had another steady stream of visitors at our home and in hospital. The meals you are providing have nourished our bodies and blessed our souls. Thank you.

Bryan and Gillian told me that our website has had over 400,000 hits in 5 days. The number is not important for the sake of numbers or web-traffic flow, rather it is astounding to think of the thousands of people represented in that statistic praying for my family. Thank you for holding us in your heart and lifting us before the Throne of the Heavenly Grace.

I am convinced that Rhonda is the most prayed-for person on the planet. It is reaching New Testament proportions. Mike just returned from a trip to the near East, he reports that the saints in Patmos are praying. Judy tells us of the prayers of the saints in Greece. Jess reported the prayers of the saints in Jerusalem. We have received countless reports of prayer across our continent.

“O Lord, I call upon you; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to you! Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!” Psalm 141:1-2.

Matthew and I spent the day building a swing set. What arrived yesterday as a box of lumber finished the evening as a fully functioning play structure. It was a most welcome distraction. In the photo you can see him swinging his heart out. I have received many emails specifically praying for Matthew. Please pray for our son. My prayer is that he would know the comfort of Jesus and be drawn to His Lord through this trying time.

I’m going to pray, hug my wife and tuck into our small hospital bed; giving thanks to God for you all and trusting in the goodness of our Father.

With deep faith and abiding love –

RD

“Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.” 1 Thess 5:23-24

  6. Dear Rhonda and Ray,

This is Fiona, Rhonda’s colleague from OCL.

  8. Some of the saints here in Ghana are praying, too, Ray David! You, Rhonda and Matthew are in our prayers as a family and as a Christian community.

  9. I’m a Salvation Army Officer at Hamilton and we will be praying especially for Rhonda and family during our women’s Bible Study this morning. Your Salvationist friends in your community are praying and now they have shared this request with us and others. God hear our prayers and come with healing, miraculous power. There is nothing beyond Him!!

  10. I had such a sense of the Holy Spirit working and His power flowing through me as I read this update last night. Something special is happening. Be encouraged!

“And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:26-28

  11. Well… so close to her call to the Bar and I was going to send her a note of congratulations when I heard through a friend that Rhonda was going through major brain surgery… with no further detail. I found this site and also e-mailed her at her cogeco address. Thanks for the updates Ray David (though we have never met – I have prayed for you too).

Rhonda, rest assured that a lawyer is also praying for you – remember Linda and I was going to touch base with you on how your articles went and your call date.

Well, the Lord is marvellous and has a plan for our lives – and your plan is in His hands – rest assured in that. Would love to hear from you, but understand that you will be busy recuperating and responding to others. Will keep you in prayer and will be sending out word to other prayer networks.

Lots of love, Linda. (Osgoode Hall)

  12. Hello brother:
I just heard about your dear wife. Please be assured of our prayers. God is too good to be unkind and too wise to be mistaken. We shall pray for grace and strength.
    Carl
