Thursday Update: Blair and Joe

This letter just came in from Blair’s wife, Rochelle.

I was able to see Blair for the 1st time after surgery last night at 11pm. He was groggy, but pretty good, and definitely ‘with it’ . the nurse told me when they wheeled him into Transplant Step down that he has been chatting for the last hour and a half, repeatedly saying…” I can’t believe how good I feel” She said he’s been great and a happy patient. We talked with him for about a half an hour before heading out for the night. Joe was sleeping during this time.

Today both guys have been doing great. Not much has changed since last night except they both had been sitting in a chair. Blair is currently sitting in his chair drifting in and out of sleep while I type on his bed. They will also have to go for a small walk this afternoon!

Blair went down for a routine ultrasound to see how the blood is flowing etc. Dr’s havn’t reviewed yet, but nurse said if there was a concern he would be sent for a cat scan, which he didn’t need. Joe is doing okay as well, and I spent some time with him when he was sitting up in his chair. He has dealt with a bit of hiccuping that is normal, but annoying for him rather than painful. Just moving from bed to chair is exhausting so I’m sure hiccups are no walk in the park. Both will be in this area for 24-48 hrs. If all is well, they will be sent to 7th floor for recovery and that is where they will be for the duration of their stay. Visitors would be best when they have transferred to the 7th floor. They are still in the ” not out of the woods “area yet.

Joe is anticipated to be here 7 days, and Blair 7-10 days.
They enjoyed getting a glimpse of each other and said Hi, as Blair was wheeled down for the ultrasound.
I’ll plan to update when they transfer unless needed. Please pass along to whom I have forgotten, don’t have emails for, or would like to know.
Please continue to pray for these guys!

Rochelle :)
